Rev. Peter Cammarano

Peter was born in Cocoa Beach Florida and grew up in The Woodlands, TX outside of Houston, TX.  He graduated from McCullough High School and received his Bachelors degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Stephen F. Austin State University.  Peter received a Masters of Divinity degree from The Divinity School at Duke University in Durham, NC.

 

Peter has served the denomination in a variety of ways over his 11 years in ministry. Currently in the Texas Annual Conference Peter serves on the Clergy Accountability Cluster of the Center for Clergy Excellence.  He is one of the two trainers for the Annual Conference’s Basic Sexual Ethics Workshop which is required by all clergy.  He is also a Birkman Certified Coach and enjoys working with individuals and groups to better understand how they function as part of a team.  Peter is trained in the Prepare/Enrich Marriage Inventory, and is a trained Stephen Leader.

 

Peter’s hobbies include gardening, reading science fiction books, and playing hide-n-go-seek with his daughter, Grace.  Peter and Amy enjoy walking together, seeing movies, and traveling to the Texas Hill Country at least once a year.  Peter and Amy’s daughter Grace is a fanatic of all things playground – swings, slides, and parks.

 

Since the Fall of 2004, Peter has been working towards a Doctor of Ministry degree in Pastoral Counseling and Psychotherapy from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary, one of the 13 United Methodist Theological Schools located on the campus of Northwestern University outside of Chicago.  Peter’s work has satisfied the requirements of American Association of Pastoral Counselor’s ‘Pastoral Care Specialist’ designation.  Peter’s topic for his doctoral writing project has to do with the dynamics of clergy marriage.  He anticipates graduating in May of 2010.
 

Prior to serving as pastor here in Port Neches, Peter has served in Brazoria, TX; Bellaire, TX; Mount Peasant, NC; and Charlotte, NC.
